ETA’s Cal. 2500 and Cal. 2600 hand-winding and automatic movements and 2700-series automatic movements were their primary volume product throughout the 1960s. The successor, ETA 2750 family, gave way to today’s ETA 2800 and ETA 2890 families.
Cal. 2500 and 2520 are similar in design to the predecessor Cal. 2390 and 2450, but only the clutch wheel was carried forward. The cannon pinion from Cal. 2500 was common to all successor movements in the 2750, 2800, and “Gabarit” 2850 families, though it was redesigned in today’s ETA 2824-2. Many other elements of this series are used in the replacement 2750 family, including hour and minute wheels, click and yoke spring, minute train bridge, and pallet fork.

The ETA 2500 family was available in either 11.5”’ (25.60 mm) or 13”’ (29.00 mm) diameter and at a variety of speeds: 18,000 A/h (Cal. 25xx), 21,600 A/h (Cal. 26xx), 28,800 A/h (Cal. 272x), and even 36,000 A/h (Cal. 273x).
