Cal. SW1000 is a compact automatic movement designed by Sellita and introduced in 2014. Measuring 9 ligne (20 mm) in diameter, it sits between the 7.75 ligne Cal. SW100 (based on ETA’s Cal. 2671) and 11.5 ligne Cal. SW300 (based on ETA’s Cal. 2892A2) in terms of size.
This was the first in-house movement design for Sellita. It has some similarity in layout to the existing Cal. SW300 family, including the location and direction of the balance, placement of the wheel train, and location of date components. The rotor is similarly mounted on 7 ball bearings as well. There are no shared components, however.
Sellita published a technical document (“Information Specifique No. 09”) describing a mechanism to modify Cal. SW1000-1 to remove the date complication. The company produces two components (a setting lever and yoke) for this purpose. When these are used, the crown only has two positions.
Although Sellita classifies Cal. SW1000-1 as part of their SW1000 family, it is the only movement of this type.
Sellita SW1000 Applications
The most prominent user of Cal. SW1000 is TAG Heuer, which uses it as the basis for their Calibre 9. It was also prominently used by Tiffany.
