Cal. ST1612, produced by Tianjin Seagull Corporation, is an automatic movement with a central date wheel. The design is similar to the Miyota 8215 and it uses a bi-directional winding mechanism similar to Seiko’s Magic Lever. The movement is roughly finished by the factory, with no engravings or stampings to identify it.
Cal. ST16 is also known as TY2806 when sold by directly by Tianjin.
Cal. ST1612/TY2806 is used by a number of companies, including Android, Fossil, Hager, Ingersoll, Rotary, and Zodiac. It was the basis for the Claro CL-888, re-manufactured in Switzerland to be sold as Swiss Made.
As of 2022, the retail price for Cal. ST1612 is US$35.49.
