FP 1241

Cal. FP 1241 (also known as Cal. FP 12.41) is an automatic alarm movement with date and timezone from Frédéric Piguet. Consisting of 407 components, this complex movement includes an alarm which can be adjusted to the minute which is powered by the automatic winding system. It also includes a second timezone display. It was the smallest such movement on the market when introduced.

The dial is extremely crowded, with a central 24 hour hand, small seconds, power reserve indicator for the main barrel, alarm on/off indicator, and alarm setting subdial with hour and minute hands.

The alarm is set using the hour and minute subdial at 3:00, down to minute accuracy within 12 hours. A pusher at 8:00 activates the alarm, as indicated using a hand between 12:00 and 1:00. The alarm uses a second barrel which is also wound using the main rotor.

The second timezone is indicated using the independent central 12-hour hand. The “home” timezone uses the long central 24 hour hand.

The uni-directional automatic winding runs clockwise.
