BVL 138

Cal. BVL 138 is an ultra-thin automatic movement from Bulgari. The movement is referred to as “Finissimo” in Bulgari marketing materials. It uses a micro-rotor (unlike the peripheral rotor found on haute horology Bulgari automatic movements) and the balance is supported by a delicate bridge. The micro-rotor is made of platinum.

Bulgari uses Cal. BVL 138 in the Octo Finissimo watch line, with an extra-thin 6.40 mm case emphasizes the slim 2.23 mm thick movement. The watch and movement were introduced at Baselworld in 2017, narrowly beating Piaget’s Altiplano as the thinnest automatic watch.

Peter Speake-Marin calls the movement “aesthetically strong” and “technically well thought out and innovative.” The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic won the Men’s Watch prize at the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2017.
