Accutron 219

Cal. 219 was a cost-reduced tuning fork movement from Bulova and Citizen. Introduced in 1972, it features only one active “tine” on the tuning fork: Both the drive coil and feedback is on the same side, with the other being a passive mass. The circuit board is larger for ease of manufacturing, and the level of finishing is low.

Accutron Cal. 219 features the same 360 Hz tuning fork speed as Cal. 218, on which it is based. The index wheel also features 320 teeth, and these gear train components are interchangeable, as are the parts used for the calendar complication on Cals. 2191 and 2192.
