Sinn’s Cal. SZ02 is a modification of their Cal. SZ01, itself based on the ETA/Valjoux 7750 design. As of 2025 Sinn uses the Sellita SW500 ebauche in the successor movements, Cal. SW515 and Cal. SW535. Note that Sinn originally used this movement in left-crown watches, so all complications and printing were rotated 180º from standard. The same movement was later used with a standard right-side crown with subdials moved. Cal. SZ02 is unusual in that it features a 60 minute counter subdial (rather than 30 minutes).

The first appearance of Cal. SZ02 was in the 2006 model 303 Football Chronograph, launched to celebrate the World Cup in Germany. It was also used in the EZM 13.1 dive watch (with left-hand crown, 60 minute counter at 6:00, and small seconds at 3:00) and continues in the new 613 St. diving chronograph (with right-hand crown, 60 minute chronograph counter at 6:00, and small seconds at 9:00).

Technical Characteristics
Characterizing the location of subdials on Cal. SZ02 can be confusing since it is popularly deployed in left-side-crown configuration, often with the subdials omitted. If the movement is viewed from the dial side with the crown in the conventional 3:00 position, the functions and subdials are as follows:
- Central hour and minute hands
- Central chronograph seconds hand
- 12 hour chronograph counter at 6
- Small running seconds at 9
- 60 minutes chronograph counter at 12
This is intended to be reminiscent of the Lemania Cal. 5100, which featured a central chronograph minutes hand (like Cal. SZ01) but had a 12 hour chronograph counter at 6, small seconds at 9, and a 24 hour hand at 12. The successor movement, Sellita Cal. SW515, moves the 60 minute chronograph counter to 6 and omits the hour counter.
Sinn SZ01 Family of Movements
Sinn began working on their in-house modifications on the Valjoux 7750 base in 2003, introducing their Cal. SZ01 in the 2006 World Cup Football timer and EZM 1.1. These included a central chronograph minutes hand like the famous Lemania 5100. This was quickly followed by the Cal. SZ02, which moved the chronograph minutes to a subdial at 12. Cal. SZ03 (2014) and Cal. SZ06 (2019) add a week number counter or moon phase as well as a day and month window, while Cal. SZ05 (2011) moves the chronograph 60 minute subdial to 3. As of 2025, Sinn is phasing out their SZ series in favor of similar movements (Cal. SW515 and Cal. SW535) produced by Sellita.
